New KCI Opening Set For Feb. 28

The opening day for the new Kansas City International Airport terminal has been set for the end of next month.

The new KCI will open on Tuesday, February 28, slightly ahead of schedule. Officials say the $1.5-billion project, which is the largest single infrastructure project in Kansas city history, is also on budget.

The new terminal will have 40 gates with room to expand up to 50 gates.

All flight operations, arrivals and departures already scheduled for February 27, and prior to 1 a.m. on February 28, will take place at the existing terminals.

Any flights scheduled for after that time will be moved to the new terminal. Overnight, airlines will relocate 31 aircraft from their gates at Terminals B and C to the new terminal to prepare for morning departures.
