November’s Ballot Amendment 3 Presented To Voters In General Election

One of the statewide ballot measure that will be on November’s statewide ballot in Missouri is Constitutional Amendment 3 that would change a redistricting process that had been previously approved by voters statewide in 2018. It was known as Clean Missouri in 2018. 2nd District State Representative J Eggleston.

Previously, the legislative districts were created with a primary focus of “compact and contiguous” geography. Clean Missouri changed the emphasis on the district’s creations to competitiveness.

Amendment 3 would change the redistricting process criteria back toward it’s original form. If Amendment 3 is defeated, the new legislative districts will likely look far different.

Clean Missouri also changed the responsibility for creating the districts to a state demographer. Amendment 3 would restore that responsibility to a bipartisan commission.
