Popped Tire Leads to U.S. 71 Accident in Andrew County
A Maryville man was injured in an Andrew County accident Monday afternoon.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred on U.S. 71, two miles west of Bolckow, when a vehicle driven by 63-year-old Alex L. Degase was heading northbound.
Troopers say a tire popped on Degase’s Mack Truck, his hood came up, sending the vehicle off the west side of the road, crossing the median, and into southbound traffic.
Authorities report Degase then went off the west side of the roadway, struck a mailbox, two fences, and a utility pole.
His vehicle would overturn before ultimately coming to a rest on the passenger’s side.
Degase suffered minor injuries and was taken to Mosaic in Maryville for treatment.
Troopers say he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
