Princeton Ball Field Complex Project Continues
The Princeton Ball Field project is currently under construction. The Russ Derry Sports Complex will include 3 fields at the intersection of Route FF and Highway 136, just across from the Dollar General Store in Princeton. To, this point, more than $600,000 has been collected from grants and donations of 80 individuals and organizations.
The Princeton School District and the City of Princeton have approved an arrangement for a payment structure for the complex. The City of Princeton will own the fields and will borrow $500,000 against current Certificates of Deposit. The Princeton School District will then lease the fields for 10 years and make annual payments of nearly $58,000 over the next 10 years. After the 10 year lease term is complete, the lease amount will become $1 since the loan will be paid back after the 10 years.
The Princeton School District is also in communication with potential donors to make contributions for the materials and installation of lighting for the complex. That expense comes to about $400,000.
There is no set date for the completion of the project.
Businesses or organizations interested in donating to the project can contact Princeton Superintendent Jerry Girdner at the Princeton School District or can mail a check to the Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri and identify the project on the check.
