Princeton Board Members Approved Electric Bus Purchase And Health Insurance For Next Year

Princeton School Board members approved a proposal to purchase an electric school bus and approved their health insurance proposal for the upcoming school year during a meeting held on Monday night.

Princeton’s board approved a health insurance proposal from broker Thomas McGee. There will be no increase to the premiums for employees. The base HSA for each employee will remain at $516.63. A base PPO will remain at $607.35. Princeton’s district cap will be $600.

The board selected the bid from Lion Bus Company for the purchase of an Electric School Bus. Their bid was the only one that included immediate availability and a charging station. The bid amount was $351,320.25.

Baord members received an update on their softball and baseball field relocation projects. The anticipated excavating and grading work will begin early this summer. Bid packets will be issued this month for construction materials. There has been $527,000 raised to this point from organizations for the project.

The school district will look into hosting a Summer Surplus Auction in late June. GovDeals.com will be used for the auction.

The Princeton School Board received an update on the legislative measure to increase the minimum teacher salary to $38,000. The salary increase request is voluntary on the part of school districts. It will require a local match. State funds are not guaranteed after next year. Princeton’s board has approved an increase in the teacher base pay of $2,000 for the upcoming school year. That would create a starting salary of $33,500 for the 2022-23 school year.

Princeton’s baord hired Samantha Cortez as a Cheer Coach. Non-certified staff were approved for the upcoming year. Summer School staff members were approved. Beth Boxley was also hired to teach one unit of Dual Credit Speech for the upcoming school year.
