Princeton Board Votes To Continue 11-Man Football And Remain In GRC East Division

By a 6-1 vote, Princeton’s Board of Education agreed to remain in the GRC East Division and continue playing 11-man football. The vote was made during the March meeting of the board held Monday night. Since January, the Princeton school has held meetings and researched the viability and the ramifications of transitioning to 8-man football and petitioning the GRC Conference to become a member of the West Division. According to a release of the meeting, multiple community members supported staying with 11-man football during the Public Input portion of the meeting.

Princeton’s board approved an increase in the Certified Staff Salary Schedule for the 2022-23 school year. The new base salary will be $33,500. That is an increase of $2,000, or 6.5 percent, from the previous schedule. The Non-Certified Salary Schedule was also approved that included a Step One raise of 6.37 percent. Bus Driver pay was increased by 6.35 percent to $67 per day and $13.03 per hour for activity trips. Administrators will also receive raises of between 4.6 and 4.3 percent.

The board approved the handbook for FFA Trap Shooting. That activity will begin with the 2022-23 school year.

Princeton’s School will let bids for repairs to the exterior brick of the high school. That work is scheduled for this summer.

The board also approved a letter of intent for the USDA grant to fund a portion of an electric school bus. The district has received 4 grants to be applied towards the purchase of an electric bus.

In executive session, Princeton’s board approved the resignation of extra duties from Heather Hall and Dave McCumber as Junior High and High School instructor.

The board approved all probationary teaching contracts and tenure contracts for Anna Fitzpatrick, Stacy Girdner, Betsy McCulley, Holly Meek, and Jessie O’Dell.

Louis O’Brien was approved as a Junior High and High School teacher.

The board also approved a 10 and 1/2 month contract for the position of Special Education Director.
