Princeton School Announces Ball Field Renovation Project Update
Princeton School Board members received an update of the Ball Field Relocation Plan during a meeting held on Monday night.
The Ball Field Relocation Plan is an effort to relocate Princeton’s softball and baseball complex from the current location on the lower Mercer County Fairgrounds to a location just west of the Dollar General Store. The move would provide a location on higher ground without the current threat of flooding. The location will include 3 fields, a parking lot, and a concessions/storage building. The Princeton Ball Association has entered an agreement with Judy Derry Mahoney that includes a pledge of a matching each dollar contributed with a match up to a sum of $150,000. The PBA has also agreed to name the new complex the “Russ Derry Sports Complex”. Checks can be mailed for the project to the Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri, 1006, W St Martens Drive, St Joseph, MO 64506. The designation of “Princeton Ball Fields” should be included on the memo line.
Princeton Athletic and Activities Director Scott Ussery also told board members that the district will be issuing guidelines for attending indoor events. Those guidelines will include social distancing, assigned home and visitor seating, and encouraging face coverings. The school district will be livestreaming the events on the district’s Facebook page.
Princeton’s Board approved the 2020-21 school bus routes.
The district also agreed to hire Trish Theiss for 4th through 6th grade Language Arts and Spelling in the second semester.
Princeton will be holding their Parent-Teacher Conference from 1 until 7pm on Thursday, October 29th. There will be no school on Friday, October 30th.
