Princeton School Board Receives Ballpark Development Timeline

Princeton School Board members were presented a timeline for projects which are planned prior to the opening of the ballpark complex during a meeting held Monday night.

According to the timeline presented, backstop poles will be installed next week. Volunteers will trench electrical duct and water lines for the fields, scoreboard, and light poles in late June. Backstop netting will be installed in the second week of July. Swingsets and be installed in late July. Sidewalks and handicapped parking will be installed in the first week of August. Bleachers and scoreboards will be installed during the week of August 21st. The first home softball game is scheduled for August 28th with Schuyler County. The school is planning on playing their home softball games at the new complex, but the timeline will be weather contingent. The ballpark complex development is through a partnership of the City of Princeton, the Princeton Ball Association, and the Princeton School District.

Princeton’s board approved a policy that would evaluate naming rights of school facilities. Under that policy, a committee will review naming proposals. Community feedback will also be taken under the policy on naming proposals before the final review is made by the Princeton School Board.

The board approved waiving one science credit unit for students who complete three units of Agriculture Science courses. The three-unit career and technical program must be a planned program leading to a specific career competency. With the action, Princeton students will be allowed to waive the science unit conditionally.

Princeton’s board approved their health insurance proposal for the upcoming school year. There will be no increase in premiums for employees. The district cap will remain at $600.

A Cooperative football agreement was approved by Princeton to include the Mercer and Newtown Harris school districts.

Lunch and breakfast prices were approved for the upcoming school year.

Princeton board hired Mike Tipton as a Junior High and High School Science Teacher and Heather Hall as a Junior High and High School Counselor. Payton Goodin was hired as an Assistant Girls High School Basketball Coach. Ethan Sticken was hired as Junior High Boys Basketball Coach.

The board accepted resignations from Scott Ussery as Athletic Director, Ashley Moore from teaching, and Amanda Mitchell as High School Secretary.
