Princeton School Evaluating Sports Options With Lower Project Enrollment

Due to a downward trend in student enrollment, the Princeton School District says they are evaluating the possibility of applying to participate in the West Division of the Grand River Conference. Such a move would also lead to Princeton also transitioning to an 8-man Football Program. During a board meeting on Monday night, Athletic Director Scott Ussery and Head Coach Nathan Powell provided information to the Princeton School Board. The presentation focused on the school district’s desire to compete with similar sized schools for a conference schedule. Princeton plans to hold a public presentation on Monday at 6pm in the High School Activity Room that will include a discussion of enrollment numbers, any discussion about conference divisional change, and the possible transition to 8-man football. During that meeting, the public will be encouraged to attend and listen and/or ask questions. The board will vote on the proposal at their March 14th meeting.

Princeton’s School Board also approved a resolution to extend COVID-19 leave through June of 2022. The approved resolution supports the extension of paid leave for all employees instructed not to report for work and who did not exhaust the Emergency Paid Sick Leave.

Princeton board also approved the retirement of Elementary Principal Dane Seymour and resignations from high school teachers Aaron Stark and Beth Boxley.
