Princeton’s Board Discusses Class Sizes During March Session

Following a discussion on the class sizes of the future 2nd and 4th grades and consolidation of class sections, Princeton’s School Board members made a decision to advertise to fill both positions and maintain a full staff for two sections of each grade level during a meeting on Monday night. The current 1st grade at Princeton is consolidated with 18 students. The current 3rd grade is in two sections of 9 students. The discussion about the matter included loss of learning due to COVID-19, a domino effect of teaching assignments annually, and the budget. There will be more review on the matter to determine if ESSER II funding can be used to offset the short term cost of adding a teacher to the 2nd session back into the budget.

Princeton will receive an estimated $340,000 in ESSER funding. That funding would include $60,000 for textbooks, $60,000 for computer hardware, $55,000 for elementary chromebooks, and $25,000 for campus wide security camera upgrades.

Princeton’s board approved steps and movements for certified staff for 2021-22. They also approved the wage schedule for non-certified staff.

Princeton’s district will hold their Award Night and Baccalaureate on Wednesday, May 15th at the First Baptist Church. Graduation will be Friday, May 7th at 7pm. Prom will be Saturday, May 15th at 8pm.

Princeton’s board approved probationary teaching contracts for the 2021-22 school year. Extra duty contracts were approved. Teacher Tenure contracts were approved for Ashley Moore and Rachel Sticken. The board approved Beth Boxley to a JH/HS English Teaching position. The board accepted a resignation from Abigail Crouse from the elementary school.
