Proposal Filed to Legalize Sports Betting in Missouri

A proposal to legalize sports betting is being pushed by Missouri sports teams.
A nine ballot proposal has been filed on behalf of the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues, St. Louis City soccer club and Kansas City Royals. Under the proposal, money generated from sports betting would be split between schools and roads.
Previous efforts to allow sports betting have failed several times in the past. Missouri law requires proposals to have a certain number of voter signatures to be put on the ballot. That process has not yet begun.
