Proposed Senate Bill Would Result in Cheaper Insulin for Missouri Diabetes Patients

(Missourinet) Diabetes patients in Missouri would pay less for insulin under a pre-filed bill in the Missouri Senate.

The proposal would cap the price of insulin in Missouri at 30 dollars a month, and include deductibles, co-payment and coinsurance costs. The sponsor, Democratic Senator Lauren Arthur of Kansas City, says the cost of insulin has skyrocketed over the past decade and that her bill would save lives as well as money.

A state Department of Health report found that nearly 15 percent of Missourians have diabetes.
