Public Service Commission Announces Public Meetings Regarding Evergy Rate Hike

 

The Missouri Public Service Commission has announced they will hold a series of virtual local public hearings in August to receive customer comment in electric rate cases filed by Evergy Missouri.

These local public hearings will be conducted virtually by WebEx and telephone conference and will be streamed live on the Commission’s website (psc.mo.gov).

A PSC Staff conducted question and answer session will be held at the beginning of each virtual public hearing. The formal virtual public hearing will begin at the conclusion of the question and answer session. The public meetings for Evergy Metro customers will be held on August 8th at noon and 6 PM. Evergy West customers have meetigns set for noon and 6 PM August 9. Customers from either area can attend the meeting August 10th at noon.

According to the local public hearing notice submitted, the rate increase would total approximately 5.65% in the Evergy Missouri Metro service territory. For the average residential customer, the proposed increase would be approximately $8.46 a month.

The rate increase would total approximately 8.31% in the Evergy Missouri West service territory. For the average residential customer, the proposed increase would be approximately $10.66 a month.

Evergy Missouri West provides electric service to approximately 347,400 customers including those in Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Carroll, Clay, Clinton, Daviess, DeKalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Holt, Lafayette, Livingston, Mercer, Nodaway, Platte, Ray, and Worth Counties. Evergy Missouri Metro serves approximately 292,700 electric customers including those in Carroll, Clay, Howard, Lafayette, Livingston, and Platte Counties.

You can also download the Cisco WebEx meetings application on your mobile device, laptop, desktop or tablet prior to the hearing and join the meeting at the hearing time by entering the corresponding access code and password listed below.

To facilitate an orderly presentation that can be preserved for the record, members of the public who wish to participate in the hearing should register by sending their first and last name, phone number, email address and the hearing that they wish to attend to [email protected] or by calling 1-800-392-4211 by 5 pm the day before the hearing.

Any person may participate at any of the hearings, but are encouraged to attend the hearing corresponding to their service area for the most relevant information. Testimony at each hearing will be limited to five minutes per person.
