Recalls Issued for Frozen Strawberries Sold at Walmart
Some frozen fruit products sold at Walmart stores in Missouri and Iowa have been recalled due to reported illnesses.
Great Value Mixed Fruit, four-pound bags; Great Value Sliced Strawberries, four-pound bags; and Great Value Antioxidant Fruit Blend, two-pound bags sold at Walmart stores in Missouri and Iowa have been associated with an outbreak of Hepatitis A Virus Infections. So far, no known cases of the illness have been reported in either Missouri or Iowa, however, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is advising consumers who purchased the items to not consume it and to throw it away. Consumers should check their freezers for any recalled products.
Symptoms usually occur within 15 to 50 days after consuming a contaminated product and can include fatigue, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, jaundice, dark urine, and pale stool.
Anyone who has symptoms after eating these frozen organic strawberries, and those who believe they have eaten these strawberries in the last two weeks are advised to contact a healthcare provider.
