Red Cross Has Lowest Blood Supply in More than a Decade

(Missourinet) The American Red Cross says its blood supply in Missouri is critically low, especially type O blood. Joe Zydlo, with the Red Cross, says there has been about a 10 to 12-percent spike in demand for blood products.

Zydlo says since the pandemic, there has also been fewer blood drives. He says the organization needs to collect about 600 blood donations daily to meet the needs of the 80 Missouri hospitals it works with. To donate, go to RedCrossBlood.org or call 1-800-Red-Cross.
