Regional Free Fishing Events Planning By MDC

Some Free Fishing Days events are being offered this month in Northwest Missouri.

The Missouri Department of Conservation will have staff and volunteers at the events which are available for individuals and families. There will be instructions on basic skills, and those participating will also be able to go fishing. All tackle and bait will be provided by the Missouri Department of Conservation.     Registration Link

A Free Fishing Day will be held next Monday, August 21st at the Department’s Hartell Conservation Area east of Plattsburg from 5:30 until 7pm.. The event is open to all ages. A valid fishing permit will be required for those ages 16 to 64. There will also be required registration.   Registration Link

A Free Fishing Day will also be held on Wednesday, August 23rd from 5:30 until 7pm at the Nodaway County Lake near Maryville. The event will be open for all ages. There will be a valid fishing permit required for those ages 16 to 64.     Registration Link

A Fly Fishing Clinic will be offered Friday, August 25th at Everyday Pond in St Joseph. Instructors will teach the basics of fly fishing and casting with a fly rod and fly line. All fly fishing equipment will be provided. The clinic will be open for those ages 8 and older.
