Renewed Push For Childcare Tax Credits In The Works For MO Legislature

Missouri’s lack of childcare options will be a hot topic when the state legislature returns to Jefferson City in January.

The state’s childcare access problem involves a shortage of childcare workers and affordable childcare options for families – ultimately taking a toll on Missouri’s workforce needs.

Kara Corches, with the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry, says childcare should be considered critical infrastructure.

She says lawmakers will be asked again to back a tax credit package for childcare providers, donors to daycare centers, and businesses who help to cover the childcare costs of their employees.
