Richmond Man Escapes Wreck With Utility Pole With Only Minor Injuries

A Richmond man escaped a crash involving a utility pole with only minor injuries early Sunday in Ray County.

The Highway Patrol says 57-year-old Richmond resident Michael S. Summers was driving a 2021 Ford Escape on Vandiver Road south of New Hope Road in Ray County at 1:37 A.M. Sunday when his vehicle began to skid and went off the left side of the roadway where it struck a utility pole.

Summers was reportedly wearing a seat belt at the time and escaped the crash with just minor injuries. He was taken by private vehicle to Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond for treatment.
