Robbery and Carjacking Suspect Arrested Near Gilman City

Law enforcement from multiple jurisdictions were able to take an individual into custody after a pursuit began in the Kansas City metro area and ended near Gilman City.

The series of incidents that led to the pursuit started around 9 p.m. on Thursday when Kansas City, Missouri police responded to a report of an attempted robbery with shots fired at McDonald’s on Wornall.  Officers indicate the suspect shot at another vehicle as he fled from the scene.

An investigation led officers to Brookside just after 10 p.m. where the suspect’s vehicle was located.  The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Brandon Fletcher, fired at officers and fled on foot to a business parking lot where he carjacked a victim.  Fletcher again fired at officers as he fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.

Two other robberies were reported in the area Friday morning.  One of the vehicles stolen in one of those crimes was located near Winston.  Reports indicate that the suspect stole another vehicle in Winston.  He is the suspect in a home invasion in the area.

Troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol were able to apprehend Fletcher after he crashed the stolen vehicle in the Gilman City area just after 8:30 a.m.

Fletcher is currently incarcerated in the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail on an investigative hold.  The Kansas City Police Department reports that no one was injured in any of the crimes.
