Rock Port Teen Seriously Injured in DWI Crash Thursday Morning

A Rock Port teen was injured and charged in a Thursday morning accident in Atchison County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred on U.S. 39, just north of Fairfax, when a vehicle driven by 17-year-old Austin J. Wallace was heading southbound.
Troopers say Wallace went off the west side of the road, over a ditch, became airborne, impacted the ditch, overturned, and came to a rest on the vehicle’s wheels.
Wallace suffered serious injuries and was taken to Fairfax Community Hospital, and later to Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, for treatment.
Troopers say Wallace was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Following the crash, troopers arrested Wallace on a preliminary charge of driving while intoxicated.
He was released for treatment.
