Savannah Driver Walks Away From Collision With Train With Minor Injuries

OREGON, MO – A Savannah driver walked away with minor injuries after his vehicle was struck by a train Thursday afternoon in Holt County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident took place just after 4 pm as 47-year-old Jason Smith was northbound on Unity Road, 3 miles south of Oregon. Smith was reversing and he backed onto the tracks in front of a westbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe Train. Investigators say a crossbar and warning sign were present. Smith’s vehicle was struck on the passenger side. He did receive minor injuries but refused medical treatment.
