Savannah Schools Announce Retirement of Superintendent and Hiring Of New District Leader
The Savannah R-3 School District Wednesday announced the retirement of their current superintendent and the hiring of the district’s next leader.
After more than 35 years in education, and six years at the Savannah School District, current Superintendent, Dr. Eric Kurre will retire on June 30, 2024. Dr. Kurre informed the board of his intention to retire at their August meeting.
This week, in a unanimous 7–0 decision, the Savannah R-3 Board of Education selected Dr. Brian Hansen as the next Superintendent of Savannah schools. Hansen will begin in this role on July 1, 2024.
Dr. Hansen began his tenure at Savannah R-3 in 2019 as the Assistant Superintendent. In that role he supervised the human resources department, served as the district federal programs director, and took an active role in all district leadership teams.
