School Resource Officer Initial Discussion Part Of Stanberry Board Session

Stanberry School Board members received a visit from Gentry County Sheriff Tim Davis regarding the Statewide Sequential Intercept Model and the role of a School Resource Officer during their meeting held Monday night.

The Statewide Sequential Intercept Model’s purpose is to develop an effective means to provide services to at-risk adults and students and includes a collaboration of law enforcement, attorneys, medical response teams, and mental health professionals. The intent of the model is to provide resources for at-risk students at various intervals.

The School Resource Officer presentation was an initial conversation about the role of a School Resource Officer and how such a position could benefit Gentry County schools. There will be more information and discussion shared before any decision is made about such a position for Gentry County.

Board members held their first of 3 readings for the 2024-25 school calendar. Last week, Stanberry’s Superintendent Advisory Committee reviewed the Academic Calendar for the 2024-25 school year.

Board members received word that the east doors will be replaced, and additional cameras will be added to the Stanberry School facility. E-Rate money may be used for some of the upgrades. New cabinets are also being installed in the Athletic Director and Junior High Classrooms.

Stanberry’s board accepted the resignation of Cindy Clements at the meeting.
