State Senator Eric Burlison (R-Battlefield) filed two Second Amendment related bills for consideration in the General Assembly.
SB 588 establishes the Second Amendment Preservation Act and would prohibit state and local entities from enforcing unconstitutional firearms restrictions. SB 663 would abolish gun free zones.
In a press release, Burlison says SB 588 would protect law-abiding Missourians from federal firearms laws that he believes are unconstitutional, such as red flag, gun-seizure laws. Burlison further says that he filed SB 663 to remove gun free zones from Missouri because every Missourian has the right to bear arms, and that right should not be taken away or infringed upon.
Both bills were presented to the Missouri Senate Transportation, Infrastructure and Public Safety Committee on Tuesday. The committee did not take action on either bill.
