Senate Budget Leader: Missouri’s “Vibrant” Economy is Growing as Budget Gets Larger

Governor Mike Parson’s budget proposal for the upcoming fiscal year is nearly 53-billion dollars, about one-billion dollars higher than the current budget.

Springfield Republican Lincoln Hough is the chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee.

He tells Missourinet a lot of that money is spilling over from previous years…

Budget requests from Parson include fully funding K-12 public education to the tune of 3.7 billion dollars.

He also wants an additional four-million-dollars to go toward boosting the minimum teacher pay to 40-thousand dollars annually.
