Senate Leader Opposes Using State Budget Surplus to Widen I-70

(MISSOURINET) –   Two groups want the state to use an excess of state and federal funds to expand Interstate-70 – the Missouri Farm Bureau and Missourians for Transportation Investment. The state reportedly has about a six-billion-dollar budget surplus and the project to expand I-70 from four lanes to six is expected to run about three-billion-dollars. State Senator Caleb Rowden says he thinks there’s a “tremendous” amount of opposition to this idea…

Morgan Mundell (mun-DELL), with Missourians for Transportation Investment, says I-70 is an economic lifeline for this state.
