Shooting Incident At St. Joe Hotel Leaves Man Dead

A man is dead following a shooting incident at a St. Joseph hotel Wednesday evening.

According to reports, St. Joseph Police were called to the America’s Best Value Inn Hotel on Frederick Avenue on a shots fired call at about 6:30 Wednesday evening. Officers say upon their arrival a man in a Chevy Tahoe left the scene, drove to a nearby gas station and crashed into pole near a gas pump.

Police say the 43-year-old driver was involved in the incident at the hotel, allegedly firing a shot into the ground before getting in the vehicle and leaving the scene.

Authorities believe the man was then injured by a self-inflicted gunshot. He was transported to the hospital but died from his injuries.

The individual’s name has not yet been released.
