Six Injured in Clay County Crash Saturday
A one-vehicle crash Saturday just before noon left five teenagers from Excelsior Springs and one from Gladstone with injuries.
Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol says 18-year-old Excelsior Springs resident Emily R. Kephart was driving a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 northbound on Interstate 35 south of 128th Street in Clay County at 11:55 A.M. Saturday when she lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason.
The truck went off the right side of the interstate, where it hit an embankment and overturned.
The truck hit the embankment a second time before coming to rest on its top, partially on the right shoulder of the highway.
Kephart suffered moderate injuries.
A 15, 16, and 17-year-old female passenger all suffered serious injuries.
A 14-year-old male and a 17-year-old female passenger both suffered minor injuries.
All six sought treatment at Liberty Hospital.
Authorities say only Kephart wore a seat belt at the time of the crash.
