Six Lexington Residents Involved in Fatal Wednesday Crash in Lafayette County

A Lexington teen has died and five others suffered injuries in a Wednesday crash in Lafayette County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred on US 24, at 24th Street, when a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old Lexington teen was headed southbound.

Troopers say their vehicle failed to yield and pulled into the path of an oncoming eastbound vehicle being driven by 33-year-old Lexington resident Joseph M. Grosso.

After impact, both vehicles overturned coming to a rest on their wheels.

Troopers say three teens in the southbound vehicle were ejected.

A 16-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at Lafayette County Regional Hospital about 90 minutes after the accident.

Troopers say a 16-year-old and a 14-year-old passenger were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, suffered serious injuries, and were taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the southbound jeep and another passenger, ages 16 and 15, were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, suffered minor injuries, and were taken to Lafayette County Regional Hospital for treatment.

Grosso was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, suffered minor injuries, and sought his own medical treatment.
