SJSD Considering Redrawing School Lines to Level Out Enrollment
(ST. JOSEPH, MO) – The St Joseph School District is considering redrawing their school lines, to level out their enrollment.
Central High School currently has twice the enrollment that the other two high schools in the city have.
The School District will have to work hard to establish boundaries amongst the three high schools, as well as other service areas within the district will have to be redefined.
They are not certain whether they can make minor changes to the current boundaries, or if they will have to start completely from scratch.
The district would put the Facilities Planning Committee at the lead of this project, where they last met this past Tuesday.
At the earliest the redrawn lines would be placed into effect is the 2024-2025 academic year, but this will happen after they learn from the feedback of the community.
The district also has intentions of keeping students in the same classes as they elevate between schools.
None of this will be official until a vote occurs at the next School Board meeting on Monday, February 27th.
