SJSD Votes To Take Entire Week Off For Thanksgiving

One area school district will have a longer than normal break for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

The St. Joseph School District Board of Education Wednesday voted 6-1 to take an entire week off for the Thanksgiving holiday this year. That vote means students and staff will be off from Monday, November 22 through Sunday, November 28.

Board President Tammi Pasley made the suggestion to grant the extra two days of off time to help alleviate the stress of the last 18 months for students and teachers alike. The district has 11 extra days of classroom time built into their schedule to account for snow days and other emergencies that may arise, so the two extra days off will still keep the district above state minimums for classroom time.
