Smithville Man Seriously Injured in Saturday Morning Accident

An accident early Saturday morning on Interstate 435 in Clay County left a Smithville man with serious injuries and legal woes.

The Highway Patrol says 24-year-old Smithville resident Christopher S. Boer was driving a 2006 Ford northbound on I-435 at northeast 108th Street in Clay County at 1:05 A.M. Saturday when the truck went off the right side of the roadway and overturned.

Boer was reportedly wearing a seat belt, but still suffered serious injuries. He was taken by Kansas City Fire and EMS to Liberty Hospital for treatment.

At 3:10 A.M. The Highway Patrol reports arresting Boer for driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving resulting in a crash.
