Smithville Woman Injured in Jackson County Crash Tuesday

A Smithville woman suffered injuries in a Jackson County crash Tuesday afternoon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred around 1:31 Tuesday afternoon on I-470, at Northeast Lakewood Boulevard, as 54-year-old Smithville resident Victoria L. Chase drove northbound.

Troopers say Chase stopped due to traffic congestion when she was struck by another northbound vehicle driven by 24-year-old Overland Park, Kansas resident Andrea L. Smith.

Chase went off the right side of the road and overturned, while Smith went off the left side of the road and struck a cable barrier.

The two suffered minor injuries and sought treatment at the scene.

Authorities say both wore seat belts at the time of the crash.
