South Harrison Approves 2023-24 School Budget
South Harrison School Board members approved their participation in the Teacher Baseline Salary Program during their meeting held Friday.
The program provides state funding for allowing teachers to reach a $38,000 minimum salary with no match required by the district.
The board approved bids to C&R Construction for concrete work at the high school and elementary. They also approved Plank Roofing for a new roof on the school’s bus barn.
The 2023-24 budget for the year was approved for the South Harrison District. This year’s budget includes an increase in the certified salary schedule of $1,000 to $34,200. The classified staff pay was increased by $1.00 per hour. Administrative salaries were increased by $1,000. The bus driver rate was increased to $70 per day. The district will continue to pay for health insurance at a cost of $7,632 per eligible employee. Substitute teacher pay was increase from $100 to $110.
The budget will also include the replacement of the press box at the Football Stadium, new football/track lighting, new scoreboards, and replacing a second of the high school drive with concrete, replacing concrete on the elementary playground, providing a secure entrance to the Early Childhood Center, and door and roof replacements at the Bus Barn.
The board hired Megan Young for special education at the elementary. They accepted the resignation of Aaron Moser at the session.
