South Harrison Board Approves Future Goals During April Session

South Harrison School Board members approved the district’s project goals as they were presented during their meeting held Monday night.

The district goals included yearly goals for the next 3 years. Goals for the 2023-24 year include the start of a feasibility study for combining South Harrison’s Early Childhood Center and Early Childhood Special Education, adding more elective courses at South Harrison High School, increasing the base salary for certified staff by $1,000, an increase of $1 per hour for classified staff, paying 100 percent of the base health insurance premium, and some capital projects. Those capital projects include a new roof for the bus barn, painting the bus barn, repairing cracks on the front drive of the high school, resealing the pick-up lane at the elementary, and studying the drainage at the middle school parking lot. The 2024-24 goals include a major revision of the middle school parking lot. The 2025-26 goals include a renovation for the visitor’s side of the football field which will include bleachers.

South Harrison’s board approved their 2023 Summer School Program. South Harrison Summer School will run from May 30th through June 15th. It will be held for K-through 8th grades at the South Harrison Elementary School from 8am until 2:30pm. Breakfast and lunch will be served. There is currently an enrollment of 155 students at this time. The summer school for the high school will be for credit recovery.

South Harrison’s board approved the elementary tuition rate for 2023-24 at $7,469. The middle school tuition rate will be $7,937. The high school tuition rate will be $12,536.

In an executive session, South Harrison’s board offered a contract for employment to Olivia Babinski for Elementary Counselor and Karen Van Meter as Student Advocate. A Letter of Intent was offered to Jeana Kampman as Elementary School Nurse. Coaching assignments were offered to Kinzer Corbett for Assistant Football Coach, Assistant Baseball Coach, and Middle School Girls Basketball Coach, to Melissa Blanton for Assistant Track, and Summer Beaty as Middle School Girls Cheerleading Sponsor.
