South Harrison Board Prioritizes Parking Lot Improvements
South Harrison School Board members approved the bid for the carpet and tile removal at South Harrison’s Elementary School during a meeting held on Monday night. The funding from the project comes from federal funding that has been approved for the school project and also approved for use at the state level. Spray Services was awarded the bid at a cost of just over $70,000. The superintendent has also been given authority to negotiate a contract.
South Harrison’s board also prioritized the replacement of the parking lots for the school’s campus. The first priority will be the south portion of the High School campus. The bus road received the second priority. The third priority will be the field house road.
South Harrison approved the summer school dates for 2022. Those dates will be May 31st through June 24th. The program includes core subject work in the morning and enrichment activities in the afternoon.
The board also approved a Career Education Enhancement Grant to be submitted to purchase a shop press, two floor jacks, a transmission jack, tractor splitting kit, alignment machine, and parts washer for the Career Center’s Automotive Technology program. The match for the 75/25 grant on the part of the district will be a little over $15,000.
In executive session, South Harrison board members renewed contracts with all building principals, hired Natalie Morgan for Middle School English for next year, and hired Brent Griffith as a substitute bus driver.
