South Harrison Board Receives Summer Projects Update

South Harrison School Board members received an update of their summer projects’ status during a meeting held Monday night.

The South Parking Lot’s construction on the high school campus could be finished within the next week. That will be followed by a delay for sealing. Lines will then be painted. South Harrison Elementary will receive an air quality test. Floor layering will follow.

Superintendent Dennis Eastin also announced that the school district will receive the electric bus on July 27th.

The superintendent also announced the projected timeline for training. New teachers will receive training on August 10th and 11th. Substitute teachers will also undergo training prior to the start of the school year. Online training will be sent out to staff in two weeks. Staff training prior to the start of the new school year begins August 17th. The first day of school will be on August 23rd.

Board members agreed to pay and additional $100 per mowing to the mower contractor due to the rise in gas prices. The situation will also be reviewed in the next year. Huffman’s is also under a contract for mowing next mowing season.

South Harrison’s Board approved an Office Floor Bid to Eckard’s, a bakery products’ bid to Graves, a dairy products bid to Anderson-Erickson, the petroleum bid to MFA, and the solid waste bid to Waste Management.

In an executive session, South Harrison’s board hired Melfred Woods as an Automotive Technology Instructor.
