South Harrison Board Updated On Fall Capital Projects
South Harrison School Board members received a report on projects still ongoing this fall for their campus during their meeting held Monday night.
South Harrison will have their new press box facility available for this Friday’s home football game with Maysville. Electricity has been provided to the new press box facility. The enhancements also include new lights and an new digital scoreboard for the high school football field and track. Superintendent Dennis Eastin also told board members that CW Electric could have the new scoreboard for the high school gymnasium available by the end of the week. The board approved the bid for the installation with CW Electric.
Training for the operation of the digital scoreboard will be done Tuesday. During the meeting, instructor Tori Watson presented information on the new Digital Design Class being offered by the district. The class has goals of providing digital designs for the individual school buildings which had previously been left to administration and provide public relations for the entire district. The daily posts are intended to provide program highlights and Facebook branding. The class will also be involved in the messaging that will be used for the new scoreboards at South Harrison Memorial Stadium and the high school gymnasium. She stated that through 25 days, the district’s website traffic is up by 149 percent. Senior student Paige Beaty and Megan Bottcher also demonstrated some of their individual work. Megan Bottcher has responsibility for the South Harrison Middle School Page. Paige Beaty has responsibility for the Early Childhood Page. Mrs. Watson is also teaching an Intro to Media Arts Class being offered.
Superintendent Eastin updated the board on the district’s loss ratio for health insurance purposes. South Harrison’s loss ratio through MET Insurance is currently at 94 to 95 percent. A loss ratio under 100 percent generally helps to keep insurance rates from spikes.
South Harrison set the date for the school district’s surplus sale for October 24th.
