Springfield Mayor Says Virus Surge is Coming to Other Missouri Communities if They Do Not Boost Vaccination Rates Soon
Springfield’s mayor says the coronavirus surge is coming to other Missouri communities if they do not boost vaccination rates soon.
The spread of the delta variant in southwest Missouri has pushed Springfield’s hospitals to capacity – prompting health leaders there to ask the state for an alternate care site and extra staff. During an appearance Sunday on the CBS show Face the Nation, Springfield Mayor Ken McClure blames misinformation for low vaccination rates and says his community is being hurt by it. He goes on to say the concept of local health workers going door-to-door has been overblown.
McClure encourages Missouri communities to use their time wisely to increase vaccination rates and have local sources educate residents – before it’s too late.
