The St. .Joseph Health Department is the latest area Health Department to announce a major spike in COVID-19 cases.
Tuesday the St. Joseph Health Department announced another 135 cases have been diagnosed over the past week. Adding to the issue is a spike in hospitalizations that has accompanied the rise in positive cases. Mosaic has had more than 20 more hospitalizations, saying they now have more than 50 patients hospitalized for COVID.
The Department of Heath and Senior Services estimates Buchanan County has just 21.4-percent of the population that have started the vaccination process and just 19.5-percent that have been full vaccinated. Overall 45.4-percent of the state’s population has begun the vaccination process with just shy of 40-percent finished with the process.
