St. Joe Motorcycle Driver Killed in Sunday Accident

A St. Joseph motorcycle driver was killed Sunday when a pickup truck crossed the center line of a highway and hit him head on.

Troop H of the Highway Patrol says 64-year-old Jackie D. Chappell was driving a 2021 Harley Davidson was northbound on Missouri Route 371 four miles south of Faucett at 1:40 P.M. Sunday when a 2005 Dodge 1500 pickup being driven by 66-year-old DeKalb resident Steven M. Humes traveled across the center line and struck the motorcycle head on.

Chappell was ejected from his bike, and despite reportedly wearing proper safety equipment, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:54 P.M.
