St. Joseph Board to Review Opioid Settlement Requests

An eight-person board that includes members of Saint Joseph’s Health Department and the Chief of Police will review ten applications for opioid settlement funding requests submitted by organizations combatting opioid abuse in the city and Buchanan County.

The board will inform organizations if their applications have been accepted by March 18.

The city and county will combine to pay over 150 thousand dollars to successful requests this year and will award a similar amount through 2039.

Funds may finance one of 13 objectives, such as supporting sustainable resources for substance abuse.

The board will perform quarterly reviews to evaluate if the organizations receiving funding are meeting their goals.

They will also submit reviews to the county and city every two years, breaking down the organization’s funding.
