St. Joseph Fire Department Applies for Grant in Effort to Add to Staff

The St. Joseph Fire Department has applied for a federal grant in an effort to add four new full-time positions. 

SJFD applied for the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grant, abbreviated as SAFER.

The grant originates from the Department of Homeland Security and is offered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency; or FEMA. 

The department could receive more than $1 million if the application is successful. 

Those funds would reportedly cover the cost of four new department positions for three years.
