St Joseph Firefighter To Be Honored At Upcoming Memorial Weekend

A St Joseph firefighter will be one of 7 Missouri firefighters and among 87 firefighters who died in the line of duty in 2020 during the upcoming 40th Annual National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend.
The weekend will include a candlelight service ceremony when a plaque bearing the names of the fallen will be added to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial. Fire Hero Families will participate in a Memorial Service at the National Memorial.
COVID-related line-of-duty deaths are now a factor in the tribute and will continue to be in the future.
Captain Timothy Owens of the St Joseph Fire Department will be among those honored.
