Stanberry Board Approves Re-Entry Plan

Stanberry School Board Members approved the school’s Re-Entry Plan for the school year after some discussion on the plan during a meeting on Monday night. Board members also tabled action on the finalized budget for the 2020-21 school year. Superintendent Bob Heddinger requested the time to see how CARES Act funding that has been distributed to the school district will affect the budget. There may also be more information about whether there would be any additional state funding restrictions realized. He reported to the board that the district has lost about $70,000 in state aid to this point.

Stanberry’s board approved their tax rate following the Tax Rate Hearing. The board voted to set the Stanberry school levy at $5.43 per hundred dollars of assessed valuation. The levy will include $4.10 for Operational Funds and $1.33 for Capital Projects.

Superintendent Heddinger also reported to the board that all Building and Grounds Projects were completed during their summer. Those included Track Curbing, Resurfacing, Painting, Flag Poles, an HVAC for the gymnasium, a FACS room remodel, and other General Maintenance.

Stanberry’s board approved an amended contract with Jarnick Bus Services for the 2020-21 school year. It is intended to protect both the school and bus company in the event that a school closure would suspend transportation services.

Stanberry’s board approved some new policies and regulations.

Stanberry’s first day of school is Wednesday.
