Stanberry School Board members approved the tax rate for the year during their August session.

At Monday’s session, Stanberry’s board approved a tax rate of $5.43 per $100 of assessed valuation. The levy includes $1.33 for Capital Projects and $4.10 for Operational Funds.

Board members were presented sign up sheets from both the community and students in support of a baseball program at Stanberry.

The district will be applying for the second Safe Schools Grant being offered by the state. Other requests include increased lighting around the campus, new exterior doors on the east side of the building, and curbs along the south and east side of the building.

The Building and Grounds update presented included a report that new access points and switches are being installed this week throughout the district. The scoreboard and play clocks are being hard wired to the control panel at the football field. The track timing system will also be moved inside the track.

The bathroom facility at Memorial field has been delayed due to the recent summer rains. It may not be completed for the first football game. It is projected to be completed in time for the second home game.

The board hired Kaleigh Meyer for an Elementary Computer and Gifted Teacher position.

The board also approved the employee handbook for the year.
