Stanberry Board Reviews Funding Options For Construction Projects To Finish On Time

Stanberry’s School District formally introduced the new superintendent for the next school year during a meeting on Monday night. Dr. John Davison has been chosen by the district to serve as Stanberry’s next superintendent. He is currently the principal at the Lindbergh Elementary School in St Joseph. He also has 16 years of experience in education in Kansas and Florida

Stanberry’s board also reviewed the options available to the district to securing funding necessary to finish the site development, construction, and furnishings for the Agriculture Shop and Training Facility, renovations at the Elementary School, and provide other improvements and repairs to facilities on campus. The board requested the superintendent pursue the avenue to borrow $1 million dollars of the operating levy beginning with the Fiscal Year of 2026-27. That option would require 75 cents of the school’s $5.43 levy. There was no formal vote on the option, but that information will be available at the December school board meeting.

The Superintendent also provided an update on the new projects. Footings have been poured for the New Training Facility, the floor of the new greenhouse has been completed, and other smaller projects have been finalized.

Dates for candidate filing for Stanberry’s School Board positions will be December 7th through December 28th. The seats of Brent Jennings and Staphanie Cameron will be up for election.

Stanberry’s board received the final audit report. A link will be created on the school website for anyone that wishes to review the entire 51-page report.
