Stanberry School Board Approves Emergency Food Service Amendment During February Session

Stanberry School Board members approved an Emergency Food Service Amendment during their February meeting. Lunchtime Solutions requested an amendment in the meal cost for the rest of the 22-23 school year due to inflation and higher food costs. The district will use money in reserve from the USDA reimbursement funds to pay the difference. That action will not affect the meal cost for the rest of the school year.

Superintendent John Davidson presented the board with a preliminary budget for the 23-24 school year. The upcoming budget year will be the final year of ESSR III funds and several grants used by several organizations. Stanberry is anticipated to move away from the Small School Grant funding for next year since the district’s attendance rate will move above 350 students. The grant funding and ESSR III funding will help offset the loss of the Small School Grant.

Stanberry held their second and final reading of the school’s academic calendar. A copy of the calendar will be posted on the website and social media.

Stanberry school is waiting on approval of a TRIM grant by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources so that 12 dead ash trees on the perimeter of the campus can be taken down.

The district is receiving bids from vendors to replace some technology hardware. The district received e-rate funds that will be used to purchase the updated equipment.

Stanberry will not make up the two February school days missed due to weather. Those days had been built into the original calendar.

Stanberry’s board hired Jessica Holtman to an elementary position for the next year. The board accepted the resignation of Kaleigh Meyer effective at the end of the current school year.
