Stanberry School Board Discusses Ballot Issue, Hires Girls Basketball Coach

Stanberry School Board members reorganized following the election held earlier in the month during a meeting held on Monday night. Keith McQuinn and Terry Schieber were sworn in to three-year board terms. Brent Jennings will be Stanberry School Board President. Keith McQuinn will serve as the Vice President.

Board members received an update on their meal program from Lunchtime Solutions. This year’s participation rate is well above the anticipated goals for both breakfast and lunch meals. That means more revenue that has been spent back into the kitchen and the lunch program.

The current mask policy will remain the same at Stanberry. The school has had zero positive or close contact cases for two straight months. The thought behind keeping the current mask requirement is to ensure students can remain in school if they would be potentially deemed a close contact from someone outside of the school building.

Board members approved Taylor Wendt to a paraprofessional position for the upcoming school year. She will also be Head Girls Basketball Coach and Assistant Girls Softball Coach.

A surplus property list was also approved. Non-certified staff members were also recommended for employment for another year at the meeting.

The Stanberry board discussed the language that is planned for the August ballot this year. Stanberry’s board plans the present a no tax rate increase measure to voters in August that intended to meet building space, maintenance, and personnel needs for the district in the future.
