Stanberry School Keeping Graduation Day On Sunday

The Stanberry school board approved the third reading of their 2024-2025 school calendar during their February session on Monday night. The calendar was approved and keeps Stanberry’s graduation date on a Sunday. The district had considered moving the graduation day to a Friday and sent out a community survey to get feedback. The results of that survey showed no overwhelming response for either keeping the date on Sunday or moving the graduation date to Friday, so the board voted 7-0 to approve the calendar with the Sunday graduation day.

The Stanberry School District also reviewed their District Facility Plan at the session. Some of the items that will be completed this year as part of the 5-year plan that began in 2021 will include new doors on the east side of the building, increased and updated lighting around campus, additional indoor and outdoor security cameras, and curbs for the south and southeast corner of the building. The projects use up the remaining funds provided through the Safe Schools Grant that was awarded to Stanberry for the 2022-2023 school year. The remaining items that have not been completed within the facility plan will be re-evaluated later.

During their consent agenda, the Stanberry school board received the resignation of Sarah Walker as high school English/Language Arts teacher.
